alex_elle A gentle reminder that self-care IS community care.
.
.
Donāt let anyone trick you into thinking that taking care of yourself isnāt a major part of collective healingāhealing THE collective.

This mantra is something I always come back to. I pray on it. I chant it. I read it. I write it down. When I am empty, I cannot give in ways that are aligned, intentional, or supportive. When I am emotionally drained and depleted, I cannot be who I want to be to others. Not only that, itās not fair to my community to show up on E. People KNOW when youāre pouring from an empty cupābecause literally and figuratively, thereās nothing there.

Whoever needs this reminder, release the narrative that showing up for you first is wrong or shameful. If you are the cup, you must replenish.

.
Let us not forget what Audre Lorde said: āCaring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.ā
