awkwafina I watched the video of George Floyd with my grandma. She wept when he called for his mama. She said “if I wasn’t so old, I’d be out there too.” Sickened by how many times I’ve seen this, as a POC, as an American. Racial injustice is a tangible, real thing, and to see how people have come out in droves across the world, the sense of unity you feel to your core when marching, to call for change, was one of the most incredible things to witness.
We owe so much to the black community, because their contributions are molded into everything we consume, love and idolize. But we have to do it with respect, acknowledgment and awareness. We have to listen, and we’ll make mistakes. But we have to listen. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
