(Bath) #batheats #happydonutco @thehappydonutco 🍴 *Ad Gifted ⁣ ⁣ A business created during lockdown, The Happy Donut Co. is an independent, Bath-based donut company making handcrafted vegan donuts. ⁣ ⁣ They have a range of flavours to choose from and come in boxes of 6. We tried the following flavours:⁣ ⁣ ✨ Lotus Biscoff⁣ 🥜 Reeses pieces ⁣ ✨ Oreo ⁣ 🍋 Sicilian lemon⁣ 🍫 NOTella (hazelnut chocolate)⁣ ✨ Filled raspberry jam⁣ ⁣ All of the donuts had a lovely fluffy sponge which was light and airy. The tops were glazed beautifully and, although hard to pick a favourite, we would probably choose the Reeses pieces one which had a delicious combination of peanut & chocolate. Although they’re ‘vegan donuts’, you literally can’t tell that they’re vegan - a great treat for everyone! ⁣ ⁣ All of the doughnuts were very moreish & far too easy to eat without being overpoweringly sweet. They’re far cry from the normal shop-bought which can be stodgy and leave you feeling heavy & bloated afterwards and are a real indulgence. It’s clear that each donut has been given a lot of care and attention.⁣ ⁣ We couldn’t believe how far happy doughnuts have come, with new better packaging and flavour varieties, the doughnuts look incredible. batheats Seedlip cocktails 🍸 at The Ivy Bath Brasserie, Milsom Street #batheats #ivybathbrasserie @ivybathbrass 🍴*Ad Invite⁣ ⁣ In celebration of their first terrace takeover, @ivybathbrass and @seedlipdrinks , the world's first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, have launched an exclusive limited-edition cocktail menu (running until 30 September) - a great option for those who want to enjoy a cocktail without feeling the effects of alcohol. 🕺🏼⁣ ⁣ ✨ Garden Party (Seedlip Garden, Æcorn Dry, Rhubarb and Ginger syrup, lime juice, ginger juice, a dash of Miraculous Foamer, muddled peas, garnished with lime twist and peas on a bamboo stick) - This was super refreshing and had a very strong ginger taste which was well balanced with the peas & the lime. It tasted the most ‘alcoholic’ with the warmth from the ginger. It also had a sherbet flavour & texture which gave it a foamy fizziness. This was our favourite! [£8.25]⁣ ⁣ ✨ Pea-Total (Seedlip Garden, Æcorn Dry, lime juice, jasmine syrup, elderflower cordial, muddled peas, and cucumber ribbon, garnished with a mint leaf and three peas on a bamboo stick) - The initial taste of this is lime which is very strong. This is the sweetest one out of the three and has a very smooth texture. You could slightly taste the peas, but not as strong as the others & the sprig of mint it was garnished with made it refreshing. [£8.25]⁣ ⁣ ✨ Pea in a Pod (Seedlip Garden, Pea and Rosemary Shrub, Rhubarb syrup with a soda top and ice block to finish) - This one had a strong pea taste which was light and refreshing but definitely savoury. We couldn’t really taste the rhubarb and it didn’t have any garnish which made it look a bit bare. [£6.95]⁣ ⁣ The Ivy is a staple on the Bath food & drink scene. We sat in the bar area upstairs which is next to the terrace to enjoy our drinks - it’s less buzzy than downstairs but it was a lovely chilled & relaxed atmosphere to be in. They take your temperature on arrival (via a camera - very non-invasive) & it’s table-service only. ⁣ ⁣ 💰 ££

[£4.50]⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🍞 Bread board with black olive tapenade, red pepper whipped feta, olive oil & balsamic - There was a nice selection of @warmleybakehouse fresh breads. The olive tapenade and the red pepper whipped feta were both delicious and bursting with flavour, however the olive oil was so disappointing once again. Whatever they use, it barely has any flavour (it was like this last time too). [£7.50]⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌿 Ancient grain salad (quinoa, freekeh, tender stem broccoli, avocado, kale leaves, chilli, lime dressing) - So incredibly delicious! The tender stem broccoli was nicely cooked, the avocado added a lovely creaminess and the chilli added a kick. The dressing was so delicious that I asked for some more & the quinoa made it really substantial. A healthy, delicious & filling option! [£12.50]⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🍔 Beef burger (6oz with Monterey Jack cheese, house sauce & fries) - A juicy burger with a nice brioche bun. The fries were good but the portion was a bit stingy? We’ve visited before and they used to give you a lot more. [£14.50]⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🍟 Skinny fries - Crispy, crunchy & hot. Nicely salted and so moreish. [£3.50]⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🍷 @yealands Estate Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough NZ) - NZ Sauvignon Blanc is my favourite and this one was no exception. [£7.25 for 175ml]⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The Hare & Hounds is a great pub in Bath which has stunning views down into the valley. As one of our favourite pubs, they have pub classics as well as some dishes with an International twist. batheats Brunch at home 🌻 This is from last month when I was at my parents’ - pastries & bread are @mor_bakery 🥐 (would recommend @thoughtfulbakery , @bertinetbakery & @landracebakery in Bath) & the cake was a coconut & passion fruit @rubybhogal for GBBO recipe that I adapted 🎂🥥 Happy bank holiday everyone! ❤️ (& the last day of #EatOutToHelpOut )!

batheats Morning pastries 🥐 from Thoughtful Bakery, Barton Street #batheats #thoughtfulbakery @thoughtfulbakery 🍴⁣ ⁣ 🍓 Strawberry & pistachio danish - A delicious, flaky pastry with a soft and slightly sweetened vanilla crème patisserie, crunchy pistachios and fresh chopped strawberry. A nice, light pastry. [£2.80]⁣ ⁣ ✨ Peanut butter & jelly cruffin - A cruffin is a croissant x muffin (basically croissant dough baked in a muffin mould) and this was filled with a delicious, classic combo. The sweetness of the berry jam was contrasted perfectly with the saltiness of the peanut butter. It wasn’t too sweet at all so is perfect for breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up. It’s just a little expensive? Probably because cruffins are more unique. [£3.80]⁣ ⁣ 🥐 Croissant - A delicious classic. Flaky and buttery. [£1.85]⁣ ⁣ ✨ Cinnamon bun - This was nice but really doughy with less cinnamon than I would’ve liked (but then again, I’m a cinnamon lover). [£2.10]⁣ ⁣ 🍊 Chocolate & orange bun - This was filled with chocolate orange buttercream and extra chocolate drops. It was yummy, however once again the flavour wasn’t that strong. [£2.10]⁣ ⁣ Thoughtful Bakery is a lovely independent bakery in the heart of Bath. They do a range of different breads, pastries and lunches as well as pantry items, drinks etc. When I lived near Kingsmead Square my flatmates and I used to always get our bread from here as it’s so delicious. They also do fantastic doughnuts in unique & wonderful flavours every Thursday. ⁣ ⁣ You can go to the bakery as usual, click and collect (£5 minimum spend) or get their goods delivered to you (£10 minimum spend, £5 delivery charge). ⁣ ⁣ 💰 £ (*Paying Customer)

batheats Happy Friday 💃🏼 Drinks at The Dark Horse, Kingsmead Square #batheats #darkhorsebath @darkhorsebath 🥂⁣ ⁣ 🍋 Fenrir (matcha-infused pisco, lemon juice, @somersetciderbrandy Pomona, local honey, @fevertreemixers lemonade & bitters) - This was super refreshing, sweet and tangy. You could taste all of the subtle flavours really well and overall it was really enjoyable to drink. A great choice for those who like longer drinks. [£10]⁣ ⁣ ✨ Three Kings ( @appletonrumuk signature rum, 3yr cider brandy, @somersetciderbrandy Kingston black aperitif, demerara & bitters) - This was short and strong. Definitely not for the faint hearted or those who like sweet cocktails, but we enjoyed it. [£10]⁣ ⁣ 🍊 Aperol spritz ( @aperolspritzofficial , prosecco & soda water) - Sweet, bitter and refreshing. A well-mixed spritz (we’ve had a lot of them). [£9] ⁣ ⁣ The Dark Horse is an excellent bar in Bath. It’s super vibey and dimly lit, and would be perfect for a date as there are lots of plush couches to cuddle up on. The staff are absolutely lovely - I actually couldn’t decide what to order so one of the bartenders talked me through the menu and recommended the Fenrir after I explained the kinds of drinks that I liked (I loved the cocktail so he did a great job!)⁣ ⁣ 💰 ££.
