brianna “nobody likes you when you’re 23” anyways usually people post these super insightful posts about growing older on their birthdays but I’m posting this old photo with a donkey and saying t w e n t y t h r e e
brianna 1.) before you ask (because this seems to be a a comment trend), I am immunocompromised so yes I had a mask in one hand and hand sanitizer in the other 2.) hope you are doing little things to take care of yourself and your brain right now 🌻
brianna happy (?) #worldibdday ! about 10 million people worldwide live with IBD (Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis) and while its treatable (in some cases), it’s incurable. a few reminders: everyone should access to healthcare (biologic pharmaceutical companies have a strong and most importantly *expensive* stranglehold on IBD care), not every sick person ‘looks sick’ (what does that even mean tbh), and not all disabilities are visible. finally as I love to say, my body sucks but I am much stronger than I thought.
PS I’m not going to stop posting about my sucky health until it’s better but it’s incurable so 🤪 #IBDLooksLikeMe
brianna I got sick ~officially~ one year ago today (I got the diagnosis after an emergency surgery). The really demoralizing thing is I really don’t remember what it felt like to not be sick anymore. I’ve adjusted but I’m still so sad about how things have changed. But if being sick taught me anything, it’s that uncertainty is so terrifying. We’re living in a really fluid, scary time. Be kind to yourselves. Stay at home if you can. We can do scary things together.
