elliegoulding Thank you so much to all the incredible guests who participated in this Festival of Hope. Please check out their incredible words in my IGTV and find much more information on my feed. Look out for more #PassTheMic events very soon. Love you all x
elliegoulding Hi there, I’m Priya Parker ( @priyaparker ). My mission is to equip people with the inspiration, courage and know-how to create transformative gatherings for themselves and their communities.
🪞🪟I’m a group conflict resolution facilitator. What does that mean? I’m trained in group dialogue and deliberation and help communities (organizations, teams, political movements, families) fight well and dream together.
📓I’m a student of political and social thought, organizational design and public policy. I’m interested in power dynamics in systems and groups, and how change happens.
📚I wrote a book called THE ART OF GATHERING: HOW WE MEET AND WHY IT MATTERS on how any of us can create meaningful, transformative experiences for and with our people.
🎙I’m the host and executive producer of the @nytimes@magnificentnoise podcast #TogetherApart . It’s a 9-episode series that explores how we STILL can create meaning together even in a global pandemic.
❤️I am also a mother of two little ones and trying to do “all the things” with @anandwrites .
I am a lover of dance💃🏽, reading📚, ☕️ &🍷with friends, 🗽New York, public spaces, and 🍁. And I am grateful to be here – Ellie, thank you for sharing your platform to share the ideas of others.
Whether you are new to me and my work, or not, what I HOPE to leave you with today is that anyone can create a powerful gathering when they ask the right questions and don’t have a predetermined fixed idea of what “it has” to look like.
elliegoulding Everything we make has an impact on people and the planet. The clothing industry is one of the worst offenders of labor abuses and pollution driving the climate crisis. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Patagonia aims to use the resources they have—their voice, their business and their community—to do something about our climate crisis. From supporting youth fighting against oil, to suing the former US president, Patagonia takes action on the most pressing environmental issues facing our world.
@patagoniaeurope has used their voice in ‘Blue Heart’ a film aimed at helping to protect the Balkan Peninsula. Home to some of the last wild rivers in Europe and yet they are under threat from more than 3,000 proposed hydropower developments which would destroy not only vast areas of previously untouched natural habitat, but also the region’s many and varied cultures.
A second film on this environmental issue will be launched on Patagonia Europe's channels in the upcoming months. You can also learn more about the ongoing fight to protect this region by following: @fondacijadrustvenepromjene_act , @BlueHeartRivers@EuroNaturOrg@EcoAlbania@ClientEarth_
elliegoulding Hello from the mountains of California. I’m Ryan Gellert. In my day job, I’m CEO of @Patagonia and outside of that, you might find me hiking with my kids, climbing or backcountry snowboarding. Thanks, Ellie, for passing the mic!
Right now we’re surrounded by bad news. Keeping up with the declining health of the planet can be overwhelming. But I take hope from the growing movement of governments, companies and people putting aside their differences to think bigger and move faster, with honesty, transparency and empathy. Our collective goal must be protecting this place we call home, while seeking justice and equality for the people most impacted by the damage we’ve already done.
Unsure how to get started? Check out Patagonia Action Works, an online tool to connect people with grassroots environmental groups, all over the world, taking action on the most pressing issues facing the world today.
elliegoulding Does climate change freak you out? Want to know what we, collectively, can do about it? Yes and yes. If you find yourself wondering “Where do we go from here?!” tune in to @how2saveaplanet – a podcast focused on climate *solutions* – where we figure that out together.
I (Dr. @ayanaeliza ) co-created and co-host this show with Alex Blumberg (that’s us in the tree), because even as a scientist and policy nerd, I still have lots of big questions about climate solutions. There’s a lot to talk about! [Swipe to hear some clips.]
So we scour the Earth for solutions, talk to people who are making a difference, ask hard questions, crack dumb jokes and — episode by episode — figure out how to build the future we want.
At the end of each episode (on, say, what is regenerative farming, whether recycling is BS, or how 2020 became a climate election) we have action tips for how you can get involved.
elliegoulding The climate crisis is a leadership crisis. So far, we haven’t had the diversity or number of leaders we need. There has not been enough support or recognition for the women and people of color who are doing critical climate work.
So @drkwilkinson and I ( @ayanaeliza ) got together to create an anthology of wisdom from women climate leaders, and to nurture what we call the “feminist climate renaissance.” Simply put, we will be more successful at addressing the climate crisis if women and people of color have an equal seat at the table in crafting the solutions.
Snag a copy of the @allwecansave book. It’s full of essays and art and poetry by 60 women leading on climate. Gather your #ClimateSquad and read it together – we made a discussion guide for you: allwecansave.earth/circles.
And because sometimes a book wants to be more than just a book… we founded The @allwecansave Project, a nonprofit to carry forward the work of amplifying the voices of climate feminists, building community, and investing in the next generation of leaders.
If you want to rock a “climate feminist” cashmere sweater, with proceeds going to The All We Can Save Project, you can find those at @linguafrancanyc .
The last image is a stanza from poet Adrienne Rich, whose words unlocked the title for the book and organization. Yes, there are things we cannot save – but there is oh so much that we can!
