starbucks Latoya is a barista, a mom to her young daughter, a caretaker for her mother and the founder of a social group of women with the aim of empowering and uplifting each other and their community.
"Most of us are single moms. We understand what it is to receive help and to help other people. We understand what each of us is going through, because for us, it’s personal. We can turn our personal experience into a community service."
Beyond being a support system for each other, the group has held drives to bring food, clothes, hand sanitizer and other essential items to people in need throughout the pandemic. Latoya brings her daughter to each event, hoping to inspire the next generation of women.
"Everyone has something going on right now," says Latoya. "I draw strength from my personal life. My daughter, she’s the reason I keep going. I’ve got to make sure she’s OK. I’ve got to make sure my community is OK."
For Women's History Month, we are celebrating our partners (employees) and sharing their stories of leadership and community. #WomensHistoryMonth
